Description
The BIOPEP-UWM database contains sequences of biologically active peptides, taste-affecting peptides and amino acids, proteins as well as allergenic proteins The information concerning peptide, annotated in the BIOPEP-UWM database includes: sequence written in a single-letter code, information about bioactivity or taste, reference, structure written using chemical codes (SMILES, InChI and InChIKey), data about biological activity (e.g. inhibition of proteolytic enzymes) or taste, and ID numbers from other databases.
The database contains tools for determining the location of peptides in protein sequences, comparing protein sequences as precursors of bioactive or sensory peptides based on the frequency of bioactive or taste affecting fragments as a quantitative descriptor, simulating proteolysis and calculating parameters for quantitative description of predicted susceptibility to proteolysis.
Application converting peptide sequences into SMILES code is also included.
