Description

Crowdfunding platform for medical innovations and research
Millions of Patients around the world are standing up and taking an active role in their health, including supporting the care innovations that matter most to them. MedStartr enables patients, doctors, institutions, partners, and investors to find and fund the best ideas in healthcare and bring them to life.

Do you have a great idea or product and need to get it found and funded? MedStartr can help do just that. Our average successful project raises $13,012 immediately and over $405,000 over the next six months. They also get hundreds of customers, at least one new partner, and very often massive press.

MedStartr Events, Pitch Contests, and Crowd Challenges utilize the wisdom of crowds to select the best companies to work as well. Add your company to our growing list of sponsors and partners and see what we can do for you – not in 18 months for 50 million dollars, but in 12 weeks for a fraction of that amount. Open innovation programs powered by a massive healthcare crowd can help any organization get involved in the next big thing in healthcare.

Our applications need to be approved prior to funding so that is a feature, not a bug. All projects are reviewed for clinical relevance and optimal engagement. Your project, for example, needed some rewards added so people could get something for their donation if they wanted. We find this increases support. The video issue was because we don't allow posting of playlists, just single videos. We corrected that for you and just added in episode 1 but syill recommend a crowdfunding specific video. Please visit our MedStartr School video section on about.medstartr.com for more advice on this and many other topics.

We reopened the project for editing so please be welcome to resubmit.

Good luck!
Alex

You are right,
But if you are making a FREE film for PUBLIC on YouTube? What rewards you can give more than acknowledgments?

Acknowledgements are good, names in credits and the like are fun. Look at what others have done. Offer to let peope name a character, cover a favorite pathogen (we all have one), do a cameo, vote on a catchphease, get a cool t shirt,... lots of great examples out there for inspiration. Turn your mad creative skills loose on the rewards section and make as many as you like!

Thanks Alex, you are right. I thought about “physical” rewards. But first I have to fix the shipment cost from South Italy to the USA… Will work on this . Grazie! :)

Use a US-based creator and shipper. We have one you can use that is very reasonable. I (Alex) used to run global supply chains so this is not a big deal to set up.

Crowdfunding does work, although not always in visible ways Oval 17

My Grandfather used to say, "when you are in business, things happen" by which he meant that if you are hitting the pavement every day, working your trade, opportunities will come up. Just as in science, the prepared mind will sieze upon them. Crowdfunding is the new main street and if you do a good campaign, things will happen.

So on our site right now are 20 or so camapaigns. About 500 - 5,000 times a day these are viewed by visitors, usually people with some interest in science or medicine. These people are engaged patients, early adopter physicians physicians, scientists, medical device industry execs, investors, hospital leaders and other industry partners. They watch the videos, support the projects, give feedback, make comments, offer to try, pilot, partner, or invest, and occasionaly buy the companies outright.

Does it work for everybody? No, absolutely not. Fact is, crowdfunding is hard work and different from what we all trained in. We went to med school and grad school, not business school or sales training. Also crowdfunding science is different as the topic is highly technical and there are 5 different major stakeholder types who have their own language - patients, providers, partners, institutions, and investors. This is not a nuance, this is fundamental to why scientific and medical crowdfunding has worked on MedStartr for four years for hundreds of projects. Each audience is important and needs their own version of a pitch and an ask.

To address the training issue we provide over 100 suggestions of daily activities in frequent emails, webinars, and messages to our clients.

We welcome all to visit the new and improved version of MedStartr. Your ideas are too important to fail, so we are dedicated to helping ideas go from the lab to market successfully. As a former research scientist for seven years, seven time startup founder, and investor, I know where you are coming from, where you are going and what you need to do to impress our crowds.

Thanks for asking and for all you do at LabWorm! Good luck!

Great job on the site and comics Alon and Susan. Glad to lend a hand.
