Hebrew University of JerusalemCan one create a custom size illustration in mind the graph?
I used mind the graph this week to create a cover page for a journal and really liked it! Great tool!
I wanted to ask if it is possible to create a layout in different sizes. I saw that you have A4 layout and something smaller but sometimes journals ask for a specific size. Do you have this option? Also, I had a problem when I tried to save the file in the quality that is asked by the journal. Is it possible to save the files as Tiff or PDF in 300dpi?
Thanks!
Juliana Costa
Staff member at Mind the GraphHi Rachel! How are you?
How amazing that you are using Mind the Graph to create the cover page for a journal!
About your questions, we still don't have the options you asked about. However, both PDF version and canva size options will be implemented in the new version of Mind the Graph platform. We are working on it and it should be released very soon!
Let me know if I can help with anything else!

CEO at Mind the GraphWhy is makes sense to use custom illustrations in mind-the-graph
I agree with Juliana, on top of the user-friendly platform, I believe that the most perceived benefit of the subscribers is the on demand service.
We provide any illustration you need and it costs just a fraction of what you would pay asking for a regular freelancer. You avoid all the stress to explain every details to a non-scientific illustrator plus pays just a very small fee.
Everybody wins and science is better communicated!

PhD student at Hebrew University of JerusalemHow can I add custom illustrations to mind the graph?
I agree that this seems like a really helpful tool!
I was wondering if there is a designated place on the website where users can give input regarding categories we think might be lacking / should be added. For instance, I was hoping to create a scheme depicting a genetic cross I performed in Drosophila, and was unable to find the basic symbols for male and female…
Thank you very much!

Staff member at Mind the GraphHey there! My name is Juliana and I work for Mind the Graph. About your question, we have an "On demand" service that you may be interested.
It works like this: if you don’t find the illustration you are looking for, just request it and we will make it for you. Simple as that.
This service has a minimum cost of 9 USD/Month or 5 USD/Month if you sign up for 1 year. The “On demand†service is the major difference between Free users and Premium users. By signing up, you become a Premium user and can request as many illustrations as you want at a low cost per month!

Before I sign up as a Premium user, I have a couple more questions:
How long does it usually take for the custom illustration to be prepared?
In addition, is there a possibility to create a Premium account for an entire lab?
Juliana Costa
Staff member at Mind the GraphSure, anytime!
For Premium users we usually take no more than a week to make the illustrations and load them online.
About the account for a lab, it is possible! At our pricing page you have the option for institutional subscriptions. Would you like to give me your contact (e-mail or number) so we can talk a bit more about it?
Rachel Yamin
Hebrew University of JerusalemI don't know about signing up as a Premium user, but to answer your question, I saw that you can upload images and symbols if you want...
So you can use this great tool but add whatever you want in addition (especially if it's a common thing like female/male symbols and not something that is designated just for your research)...

OtherMind the graph review
Really great tool! Especially now that journals require to create graphical abastracts and infographics, mind the graph will definitely become useful and easy to use. I just have one question, if I want to create a powerpoint presentation with animation of each element in the infographic to appear with a click, is this possible? What would be the easiest way to do this? Thanks!
Fabricio Pamplona
CEO at Mind the GraphHi Sara, thank you for the feedback! We really believe that Mind the Graph has the potential to become the reference tool in this field.
We are improving it on a weekly basis, following comments like yours. However, animations are not in our short-term plans. It's an excellent suggestion for the future, tough.
