Description
sciNote is an open source electronic lab notebook (ELN), which helps you organize your scientific data and safely stores it in one place. It runs on cloud and can be installed on a local server as well. sciNote is suitable for laboratories of any size, since it offers free account with unlimited number of users.

BioinformaticianWhy this ELN, and not all the others?
@sciNote.Eln.18:u Not to be rude, but I already use Benchling @benchling and I am quite satisfied. Why should I switch over to sciNote?
James Morris
Post-doc at University of East AngliaThere are a huge number of ELN makers and products out there. You need to have a close look at what you do and what particular features in the ELN are there. If you see a lot of gaps in what you do vs the ELN look around. I use LabCollector.

OtherHi Noa,
If you are already using ELN and you're happy with it, there is no reason to switch. However if you miss some features, is it worth to have a look at other solutions, including sciNote.
Maybe interesting for you as a bioinformatician is the possibility to track code within sciNote. The rich text formatting editor in sciNote now also supports the syntax highlighting for several languages, such as Python, D, Mathematica, Matlab, Fortran, R etc. In combination with the workflow view of experiments, this is a great tool for a full traceability of changes made to the code throughout the experiments.
sciNote also promotes collaboration, with no limitation to the number of users you can invite to your team and a notification systems connected to your email.
Open source licence together with modular design also differentiate sciNote from other ELNs. Different add-ons are being developed as we speak, which will give researchers the possibility to customize sciNote to best fit their needs. Moreover, you can connect existing software or instruments with sciNote or hire sciNote Team to do it for you.
@Noa.Dobbins:u I hope this summary was helpful. I am happy to continue conversation if you would like to learn more about @sciNote.Eln.18:u
Yoav Bauman
Co-founder at LabWormIs sciNote completely free?
Welcome to LabWorm @sciNote.Eln.18 I was wondering if sciNote is completely free for every user? Good luck!
James Morris
Post-doc at University of East AngliaProbably not if you use it long term. Support costs money, more than 1gb cloud storage has a cost. It seems like lots of features that make the software interesting initiate fees.
Klemen Zupancic
CEO at sciNoteHi Yoav,
Yes, sciNote is completely free. Everyone can make a free account and can use sciNote with full functionality.
When you create your account you can also create a free organization, where you can share 1GB of data. If you want to store more data, sciNote offers data plans on the cloud (100 GB = $9 a month) or you can host sciNote on any computer for free.
We do charge for professional support, but so far we have supported everyone, who has been in touch with us and had issues or questions about sciNote.
I hope you like it!
